PLAYER REQUIREMENTS

For all players and goalies selected to represent Roller Hockey Canada – Team Canada, please review the following requirements and expectations for participation in international events sanctioned through World Skate and other recognized roller hockey competitions.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Players and families are responsible for understanding all tournament dates, travel windows, and team schedule requirements prior to committing to the program. All athletes must be available for the full duration of the event, including required arrival and departure dates.

AIRPORTS & TEAM TRAVEL ITINERARY

All players are required to arrive at the designated airport(s) within the travel window provided by the Team Canada staff. Athletes are expected to coordinate their travel plans with the official team itinerary.

Players who choose to travel outside of the approved Team Canada schedule will be responsible for any additional costs associated with transportation, missed team arrangements, hotel changes, or travel adjustments.

VALID CANADIAN PASSPORT

All athletes representing Canada must have a valid Canadian passport.

Your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months beyond the tournament travel dates. Players are responsible for ensuring their passport is current and renewed well in advance if required.

Once selected to a Team Canada roster, athletes will be required to provide proof of citizenship, including a passport copy, as part of the official registration process required by tournament organizers and World Skate.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Players must meet the age requirements established for each division and tournament.

Athletes and families are responsible for reviewing the applicable age categories and eligibility rules for the event they are participating in.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

All Team Canada athletes are required to use equipment that meets the standards and expectations established by Roller Hockey Canada and the tournament regulations.

Players must ensure they have appropriate protective equipment, including:

  • Approved helmet and protective gear
  • Proper gloves and equipment suitable for international competition
  • Equipment that follows World Skate and tournament guidelines

Additional equipment requirements may be communicated prior to each event based on tournament regulations.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Roller Hockey Canada will provide event-specific coverage where applicable for participating athletes while representing the program.

All athletes are required to provide proof of personal travel medical insurance before attending international events. Players and families should confirm their coverage includes international travel and sport participation.

MEDICATIONS & ANTI-DOPING REQUIREMENTS

Athletes selected to Team Canada must be aware that international roller hockey events may follow anti-doping policies established by World Skate and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Players may be required to complete medical information forms and disclose any medications, supplements, or treatments they are using to ensure compliance with current anti-doping regulations.

Athletes should understand that random testing may occur during international competitions.

FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS

Travel Expenses

Players and families are responsible for the cost of airfare and travel arrangements to and from international events unless otherwise communicated by Roller Hockey Canada.

Team Fees

Once selected to a Team Canada roster, athletes will be responsible for all applicable team fees associated with participation. These fees support program operations, tournament registration, team services, and event preparation.

Hotel & Transportation

Team fees may include specific accommodations, transportation, uniforms, services, or tournament-related expenses depending on the event.

A complete breakdown of included and additional costs will be communicated clearly to all athletes and families before participation is finalized.

Being selected to Team Canada is an opportunity to represent your country, your province, your community, and the growth of roller hockey across Canada. Athletes are expected to demonstrate commitment, sportsmanship, respect, and professionalism both on and off the rink.
