Lethbridge, Alberta — May 13, 2026
Roller Hockey Canada (RHC) is extremely excited to announce a landmark agreement that will see the merger of Roller Hockey Canada and Canada Inline, positioning the sport of inline hockey for unprecedented national growth and international alignment.
This strategic transition represents a pivotal step forward in unifying the sport across Canada, strengthening athlete pathways, and aligning with global standards under World Skate.
“This is an exciting moment for Inline Hockey in Canada,” said Dave Sehn, President of Roller Hockey Canada. “We see enormous potential in bringing Canada Inline under a broader national framework that supports athletes from grassroots participation all the way to international competition. This is about building something sustainable, inclusive, and truly representative of the sport’s future in this country.”
Roller Hockey Canada acknowledged the leadership and dedication of Meka Trepanier, whose efforts have helped maintain and grow Canada Inline during a critical period for the sport.
“Meka has played an important role in keeping the international pathway possible for Canadian athletes,” added Sehn. “He has seen the vision of what this sport can become, and we’re grateful for his commitment and willingness to be part of this next chapter.”
Trepanier expressed optimism about the transition and its long-term impact.
“This is the right time to take what we’ve built and expand it,” said Trepanier. “Roller hockey in Canada needs structure, alignment, and investment to reach its full potential. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and excited to see where this unified vision can go.”
Under this new structure, Roller Hockey Canada will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the country to:
Establish a unified national framework for competition and development
Strengthen international representation through World Skate
Expand grassroots programming in communities across Canada
Support athletes transitioning between recreational, elite, and international play
This transition is expected to create stronger connections between community leagues, national programming, and future international opportunities, laying the foundation for long-term growth of the sport.
“This isn’t just about governance,” Sehn added. “It’s about unlocking the full potential of roller hockey in Canada, for players, families, and communities coast to coast.”
